Open Postdoctoral Position: The School of Engineering and Sciences at Tecnológico de Monterrey is seeking a qualified Postdoctoral Fellow to join the Research Group Water 360. The focus will be on applying Artificial Intelligence techniques to enhance water quality estimations.

Location: Monterrey, Mexico

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • PhD in Environmental Science, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or Geosciences
  • Strong scientific production with publications in JCR journals and presentations at international conferences
  • Experience in modeling and artificial intelligence applied to environmental systems
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English; knowledge of Spanish is a plus
  • Familiarity with the Mexican context

Job Description:
The successful candidate will be engaged in research activities primarily focusing on estimating water quality parameters in groundwater, which include nitrates, sulfates, and toxic elements (e.g., Arsenic, Fluoride, Uranium, Selenium) as well as emerging contaminants like antibiotics and PFAS. Responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting fieldwork during sampling campaigns
  • Performing laboratory work
  • Writing scientific articles for high-impact journals
  • Collaborating closely with Dr. Jurgen Mahlknecht on the Participate Water Monitoring project
