Peter Lamb Postdoctoral Fellowship: The Cooperative Institute for Severe and High-Impact Weather Research and Operations (CIWRO) has established the Peter Lamb Postdoctoral Fellowship, offered annually. CIWRO fosters collaborative research between scientists at NOAA and a consortium of universities led by the University of Oklahoma (OU) to advance weather science, enhance forecasts, and improve societal responses to extreme weather. The fellowship aims to support innovative research within CIWRO’s core themes.

- Subseasonal to seasonal (S2S) prediction for extreme weather events
- Social and socioeconomic impacts of high-impact weather systems
Location:
The recipient will be an OU employee but may conduct research at any of the following institutions:
- University of Oklahoma (OU)
- Howard University (HU)
- Pennsylvania State University (PSU)
- Texas Tech University (TTU)
- University at Albany (UA)
Eligibility/Qualification:
- Ph.D. obtained after July 31, 2020 (exceptions may be made for career timeline disruptions due to life events).
- Those in the final stages of their Ph.D. dissertation are encouraged to apply, provided they anticipate completing their degree before July 31, 2025.
Job Description:
- Conduct innovative research within CIWRO’s research themes.
- Develop and submit a 3-4 page novel research proposal addressing at least one CIWRO research theme.
- Identify and collaborate with a potential advisor from OU or consortium partners (HU, PSU, TTU, UA).
- Engage in interdisciplinary collaboration to transition scientific advancements into operational applications for improved weather forecasting and warnings.
