Tallahassee, Florida (Joint college shared by Florida A&M University and Florida State University). Certain M.S. programs are also available at the Panama City campus or online.
Eligibility:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a closely related engineering or science discipline from an accredited institution.
- Good academic standing at the last attended academic institution.
- A minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale on all upper-division coursework (beyond 60 semester credit hours).
- GRE Status: Waived for all engineering master’s applicants through Fall 2026. Ph.D. applicants can apply for a GRE waiver.
- International Students: Must provide an English Proficiency Score Report (e.g., TOEFL, IELTS, Duolingo, PTE) unless they graduated from an accredited U.S. institution or their country’s official language is English.

Outstanding Ph.D. candidates are prioritized for assistantships which provide financial support while they engage in advanced research in areas such as intelligent mobility, sustainable environments, and resilient structures.
How to Apply:
- Apply through the graduate admissions portal of either Florida A&M University (FAMU) or Florida State University (FSU). Note: You only need to apply through one university; the coursework and program are identical.
- Submit the Civil MEng/Ph.D. Supplemental Application Form.
- Upload a current CV/Resume and a Statement of Purpose detailing your career goals and reasons for pursuing the degree.
- Provide two signed letters of recommendation on official letterhead from academics or professionals.
- Submit official transcripts (international transcripts require a NACES-approved evaluation).
Last Date:
- January 15: Priority Deadline for Ph.D. Assistantships (Fall admission).
- January 15: Recommended deadline for international applicants living outside the U.S. applying for Fall.
