Ph.D. Graduate Research Assistant: We are seeking a motivated Ph.D. Graduate Research Assistant (GRA) to join Dr. Shyam Solanki’s research group at South Dakota State University (SDSU), South Dakota, USA, starting in Fall 2024. The successful candidate will be part of a dynamic team studying the interdependent evolution of plant immune receptors and their cognate pathogen effectors, focusing on the cereal crop-stem rust host-pathogen system.

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Plant Science, Molecular Biology, Plant Pathology, Bioinformatics, or a related field.
  • Relevant experience in transient transformation, confocal microscopy, cloning, phylogenetics, and sequencing data analysis platforms.
  • A collaborative and communicative personality.

Job Description:

The Ph.D. GRA will:

  • Conduct research on the cereal crop-stem rust host-pathogen system.
  • Utilize and develop techniques in plant-microbe interaction, molecular biology, and bioinformatics.
  • Collaborate with team members and contribute to ongoing projects.
  • Participate in laboratory meetings, seminars, and other academic activities.
