Job Description

Selected Ph.D. students will engage in groundbreaking research combining organic synthesis, catalysis, photo/electrochemistry, and polymer chemistry. The research will aim to create and analyze polymers with novel architectures and properties, contributing to advancements in plastic sustainability, biomedical applications, and materials with unique electronic and optical characteristics. Research projects will be customized based on the students’ interests and expertise.

How to Apply

Applicants must submit a single PDF document containing:

  • Statement of Purpose: A concise essay (max. 2 pages) detailing research interests, relevant experiences, and Ph.D. objectives. Chemical figures may be included if relevant.
  • Curriculum Vitae (CV): Including contact information for 3 referees, one of whom should be a research advisor. Provide the referees’ names, current positions, affiliations, and email addresses. Shortlisted candidates will have their letters of recommendation requested directly from their referees.
  • Transcripts: Academic records for Bachelor’s and, if applicable, Master’s degrees.

Submit the complete application via email to Prof. Suong Nguyen at stn89@mit.edu with the subject line: “LCPS PhD Application: [Your name]”. Only completed applications will be considered. Shortlisted candidates will be invited for virtual interviews.
