Ph.D. Position in Environmental Engineering: The Chen Lab, led by Dr. Wensi Chen at Texas A&M University, is inviting applications for a Ph.D. position in Environmental Engineering. The successful candidate will join the lab in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering and contribute to cutting-edge research on the design, development, and application of advanced functional materials. Specifically, the focus will be on the use of smart hydrogel for bacteria/virus sampling and detection in water samples to address global challenges related to water, energy, and health.

Location: Texas A&M University, College Station, Texas, USA

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant fields (e.g., environmental engineering, chemical engineering, chemistry, material science and engineering).
  • Highly desirable: Master’s degree in relevant fields (not required).
  • Previous research experience with hydrogel/polymer materials, environmental microbiology, sensor techniques.
  • Ability to conduct independent research projects and work effectively in a team.
  • Excellent scientific writing and communication skills.

Job Description: The Ph.D. student will:
