Ph.D. Position in Forest Ecology and Climate Change, Canada

Mitacs Elevate Postdoctoral Fellowship (in Any Discipline) in Canada

Ph.D. Position in Forest Ecology: A fully-funded Ph.D. position is available for candidates interested in forest ecology and climate change adaptation. The position allows enrollment at either the Institute of Forestry and Conservation at the University of Toronto or the Department of Renewable Resources at the University of Alberta. The Ph.D. candidate will actively contribute to an operational-scale silvicultural experiment in the Petawawa Research Forest, central Ontario. This experiment, part of the Adaptive Silviculture for Climate Change network, will assess “climate-smart” strategies such as assisted migration and modified harvest regimes to enhance the resilience of temperate mixedwood forests.

Designation: Ph.D. Candidate

Research Area: Forest Ecology and Climate Change Adaptation

Location: University of Toronto or University of Alberta

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • Sincere interest in forest ecology.
  • Strong quantitative skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
