Ph.D. Student and Postdoctoral Scholar: The EcoClimate AI Lab at the University of Houston is recruiting a fully funded Ph.D. student and a two-year Postdoctoral Scholar. The lab focuses on ecosystems’ responses to climate dynamics and disturbances, with a special emphasis on wetlands and forests.

Eligibility/Qualification

Ph.D. Student

  • Strong intellectual curiosity and self-motivation for scientific research
  • Proficiency in Python programming and familiarity with machine learning
  • Interest in Earth and environmental sciences, atmospheric science, land-atmosphere interactions, ecosystem ecology, remote sensing, or GIS
  • Must meet UH Graduate School admission requirements (including TOEFL/IELTS for international applicants)

Postdoctoral Scholar

  • Strong programming skills or experience in field measurements (e.g., eddy covariance, chamber)
  • Modeling skills (e.g., machine learning, process-based models) or Remote sensing and GIS
  • Flexibility to shape project direction based on personal research interests

Job Description

Ph.D. Student

  • Engage in research about how ecosystems respond to climate disturbances.
  • Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team and opportunities with external partners.

Postdoctoral Scholar

  • Conduct research on ecosystem carbon, water, and energy cycles and disturbance ecology.
