The Collaborative Research Centre (CRC 1585) “Structured functional materials for multiple transport in nanoscale confinements” invites applications for 20 fully funded PhD and 2 postdoc positions. Designation: PhD and Postdoc Positions

Research Area: Structured Functional Materials, Multiple Transport, Sustainable Energy Transformation

Location: University of Bayreuth and partner institutions (University of Augsburg, Technical University of Darmstadt, and University of Ulm), Germany

Eligibility/Qualification: General requirements:

  • Master’s degree in chemistry, physics, engineering, or a related field
  • Experience in areas like organic/inorganic synthesis, material science, polymer chemistry, theoretical physics/chemistry, programming, material characterization
  • Proficiency in English (spoken and written)
  • Dynamic and open-minded personality keen on interdisciplinary research

Additional requirements for postdoc positions:

  • PhD in a related research area
  • Strong communication, management, or scientific data management skills (advantageous)

Job Description: As a member of the CRC 1585 team, you will:

  • Create, characterize, and model novel materials for sustainable energy transformation
  • Investigate transport behavior of ions, molecules, electrons, and heat in nanostructured functional materials
  • Develop strategies to guide multiple transport species
  • Collaborate across disciplines for synthesis, processing, characterization, and theory
  • Contribute to revolutionizing battery, fuel cell, and solar cell components
