PhD and PostDoc Positions in Brain Microstructure Mapping

Designation: PhD and PostDoc Positions

Research Area: Brain microstructure mapping using diffusion magnetic resonance spectroscopic imaging (dMRS/dMRSI)

Location: EPFL AVP-CP CIBM-AIT, Bâtiment CH F, Lausanne, Switzerland

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • Master’s degree (for PhD position) and PhD degree (for PostDoc position) in biomedical physics, bioengineering, neuroscience, or related fields
  • Complementary skills preferred (e.g., physics/bioengineering vs neuroscience)
  • Experience in MRS, MRSI, sequence programming, and/or programming languages like Matlab and Python is advantageous
  • Willingness to work in a multidisciplinary environment and on animal/translational biomedical research
  • Proficiency in English, both verbal and written

Job Description:

  • Conduct research in the area of diffusion weighted MR spectroscopy/spectroscopic imaging (dMRS/dMRSI) at ultra-high magnetic fields
  • Collaborate with a team of PIs, PhDs, and PostDocs on an interdisciplinary SNSF-funded project
  • Develop and validate diffusion MR spectroscopic imaging techniques using both in vivo rodent models and 3D brain cell organoids
  • Push the boundaries of dMRS methodology, including spatial resolution, MR acceleration, and sensitivity enhancement
  • Work closely with other team members to integrate advanced modeling approaches for data analysis and interpretation
  • Contribute to the development of a MR-compatible bioreactor for live measurements of 3D brain cell organoids
