PhD and Postdoc Positions: CISPA Helmholtz Center for Information Security is inviting applications for motivated PhD and Postdoc positions in the field of cyber-physical security. The successful candidates will have the opportunity to explore and develop research in areas such as secure navigation and positioning systems, sensor security for autonomous vehicles, and location privacy analysis.

Eligibility/Qualification

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from a research-oriented institution in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering.
  • Familiarity with lab equipment such as Software Defined Radios, Oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and signal vector generators is an advantage.
  • Strong interest in cyber-physical systems, wireless communication, and automotive sensor security.
  • Proficiency in English; knowledge of German is beneficial but not required.

Job Description

The selected candidates will:

  • Work on designing and developing secure ranging and positioning systems, which may involve GNSS, UWB, and 5G technologies.
  • Conduct security analyses of perception and navigation sensors for autonomous vehicles, including LiDAR and RADAR.
  • Investigate privacy risks associated with evolving communication protocols such as LTE and 5G.
  • Explore vulnerabilities in cyber-physical systems and contribute to developing secure alternatives.
  • Collaborate with a diverse international team and contribute to a flat hierarchical environment promoting teamwork and innovation.
