Eligibility/Qualification:

  • Degree allowing enrolment for a PhD (e.g., MSc, Master 2 de Recherche, Laurea) in chemistry, materials science, physics, or a related field.
  • Previous experience with electron microscopy or spectroscopy is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Good communication skills and enthusiasm for experimental work in an international environment.
  • Proficiency in English (upper-intermediate B2 level required).
  • Compliance with the Marie Sklodowska-Curie mobility rule.
  • Candidates must not have an existing doctoral degree at the time of recruitment.

Job Description:

This PhD project focuses on investigating the structure-function relationships of advanced materials using state-of-the-art Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) combined with spectroscopy and correlative approaches. Key responsibilities include:

  • Atomic-scale imaging and spectroscopy of complex oxides and nanostructured materials.
  • Application of in-situ and operando TEM methodologies under diverse stimuli.
  • Correlative analysis combining TEM, synchrotron techniques, and multimodal characterization.
  • Collaboration with synthesis and nanofabrication groups within Area Science Park.
