Scholarship Description

The PhD project involves developing a vacuum-compatible exfoliation center for creating heterostructures from reactive 2D materials. These materials, including graphene and transition metal dichalcogenides, have unique physical properties and potential applications in future devices. The candidate will explore these materials using advanced techniques like scanning probe microscopy and magneto-transport at ultra-low temperatures. The position includes teaching responsibilities up to 10% of working time. The SPM group at Radboud University is known for its expertise in high-precision imaging techniques and has made significant contributions to the field.

  • Master’s degree in physics with a thesis on an experimental research topic
  • Proficiency in English (verbal and written)
  • Strong interest in condensed matter physics
  • Willingness to develop scientific communication skills

Required Documents

  • Summary of three papers from the department, with an explanation of the main findings
  • Contact details of two references
  • List of grades
