PhD Candidate in Algorithmic Fairness: The Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) invites applications for a full-time PhD Candidate position focused on algorithmic fairness in recommender systems. This role is a unique opportunity to contribute to research that aims to ensure fairness in job recommendations. The position is in collaboration with Vend AS and is part of the Norwegian Research Center for AI Innovation.

Eligibility/Qualification

  • Relevant Master’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
  • Strong academic background with an average grade of B or better.
  • Understanding of artificial intelligence (AI) concepts and techniques.
  • Good programming skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.

Preferred Criteria

  • Experience in software development; knowledge of recommender systems is an advantage.
  • Experience with writing and publishing academic articles.

Job Description

The PhD candidate will:

  • Complete the doctoral education and obtain a doctorate.
  • Conduct research on algorithmic fairness in job recommender systems.
  • Design and experiment with techniques for fairness in recommender systems.
  • Publish and disseminate research findings in international platforms.
  • Collaborate with national and international partners, particularly those involved in the NorwAI consortium.
