PhD Candidate in Chemical Dynamics: The Rupprechter Research Group at TU Wien is seeking a highly motivated PhD candidate in natural sciences, preferably with experience in chemistry or physics, to join their team focused on chemical dynamics at the nanoscale in catalysis. The selected candidate will embark on a paid 4-year university assistant position, with a potential start date of 01.05.2024.
Call for PhD Candidate in Chemical Dynamics at the Nanoscale in Catalysis
Study Area: Chemical Dynamics, Nanoscale Catalysis, Surface Science, Microscopy, Catalytic Nanoparticles
Location: TU Wien, Austria
Eligibility/Qualification:
- Educational background in natural sciences, preferably with experience in chemistry or physics.
- Strong interest in surface science and catalysis.
- Ability to commence the position on or around 01.05.2024.
Description: The research approach involves microscopy-driven in situ/operando experiments on model nanoscale catalyst systems. The candidate will analyze time-resolved data to understand spatio-temporal pattern formation and explore structure-activity relations and the interaction of catalytically active sites. The scientific process includes calculated simulations to rationalize observed behavior and validate new mechanisms discovered during experiments. Practical experience with ultra-high vacuum (UHV) experimental setups, data evaluation, and scripting (preferably in MATLAB or Python) will be gained throughout the dissertation.
How to Apply: To join this dynamic team and contribute to cutting-edge research in chemical dynamics, interested candidates should apply by sending their application to:
