Eligibility/Qualification:
- MSc degree in life sciences (biology, microbiology, biotechnology, or related area) with a focus on microbiology.
- Proficient in English (written and spoken).
- Demonstrated mindset to develop into an independent scientist (growth mindset).
- Essential knowledge of basic microbiological methods.
- Advantageous experience in anaerobic microbiology or with bioreactor techniques.
Job Description: As a PhD candidate, you will:
- Investigate the microbial physiology of anaerobic methanotrophic archaea cultivated on bio-electrodes.
- Explore enzymes involved in electricity production and interactions with other community members.
- Cultivate novel methanotrophs on bio-electrodes to describe their electrochemical and physiological properties.
- Contribute up to 10% of your working time to teaching responsibilities.
- Collaborate with a dynamic and diverse research team within RIBES.
