Research Area

The research project focuses on understanding the molecular mechanisms driving liver regeneration through the application of in vivo CRISPR technology. The aim is to identify the factors that enhance the liver’s regenerative capabilities, which could lead to improved treatments in regenerative medicine.

Location

Ghent, at the VIB-UGent Center for Inflammation Research.

Eligibility/Qualification

  • Master’s degree in Bio-engineering, Medicine, Molecular Biology, Immunology, or a related field.
  • FELASA certification.
  • Relevant experience in regeneration, immunology, or hepatology.
  • Excellent communication skills and fluency in English.
  • A collaborative mindset, with enthusiasm for international and interdisciplinary research.

Bonus Qualifications (Not Required)

  • Experience with highly multiplexed flow cytometry and confocal microscopy.
  • Familiarity with single-cell or spatial omics.

Description

This project capitalizes on a paradigm shift in liver regeneration, proposing to analyze the liver as an integrated structure of modules. By applying in vivo single-cell CRISPR technologies, the goal is to uncover the causal circuits that drive regeneration in distinct liver cell types.

How to Apply

Interested candidates must apply online using the VIB application tool. Prepare the following:

  • A motivation letter (1-1.5 pages).
  • Curriculum vitae.
  • University degree certificates.
