The project involves the development of chemical tools to act as traceable reporters for the activities of individual glycosyltransferases. These tools will enable researchers to gain direct insights into the enzymes responsible for introducing glycans, a complex and abundant protein modification. The research will employ cutting-edge methods of imaging, mass spectrometry glycoproteomics, and genome engineering to uncover the substrate proteins and glycosylation sites affected by disease-relevant glycosyltransferase enzymes.
