Eligibility/Qualification:
Necessary qualifications:
- M.A./M.Sc. or Ph.D. in Computational Linguistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Machine Learning, Data Science, Computational Humanities, or similar field (with very good grades)
- Strong programming skills, ideally in Python and/or R
- Experience with machine learning in NLP, deep learning, or statistical analysis
- Near-native language skills in German or English
- Excellent communication skills in English, including writing for publication and presenting research findings
- Ability to work independently, manage own academic research, and supervise student assistants
- Effective teamwork skills
Desirable qualifications:
- Strong mathematical skills
- Ability to analyze linguistic data
- Experience with corpus creation and gold standards
- Native-like language skills in German and English
- Experience with developing Web apps in Python/Flask and Web-based UIs
Job Description:
- Contribute to research projects in computational corpus linguistics
- Depending on qualifications and preferences, tasks may include statistical modeling, deep learning applications, data augmentation, corpus queries, and LLM development and evaluation
- Develop and implement statistical models for linguistic data
- Write and refine sophisticated corpus queries
- Implement deep learning models for NLP and legal tech applications
- Evaluate algorithms and NLP applications thoroughly
- Produce research documentation and co-author publications
- Present research findings at conferences
- Manage project tasks, supervise student assistants, and provide progress reports
- Contribute to the self-administration of the CCL team and its Web presence
