Eligibility/Qualification:

  • Master’s degree or equivalent in biology, ecology, genetics, or evolutionary biology
  • Fluent in oral and written English
  • Desired qualifications include experience with bioinformatics, handling large datasets, fieldwork experience (bird handling), and knowledge of laboratory work (DNA extraction, quantification, and library preparation).
  • Candidates without a master’s degree have until June 30, 2024, to complete the final exam.

Job Description:
The successful candidate will:

  • Investigate adaptation in the house sparrow using ecology, genomics, ancient DNA, and evolutionary biology
  • Conduct fieldwork in Norway and abroad
  • Develop their own research direction within the project framework
  • Address questions related to parallel and non-parallel adaptation, the impact of temperature changes, and evolutionary trade-offs
  • Join an active research group, participating in lab meetings, group discussions, and hands-on training
  • Collaborate with international researchers
