Eligibility/Qualification:
- Master’s degree or equivalent in biology, ecology, genetics, or evolutionary biology
- Fluent in oral and written English
- Desired qualifications include experience with bioinformatics, handling large datasets, fieldwork experience (bird handling), and knowledge of laboratory work (DNA extraction, quantification, and library preparation).
- Candidates without a master’s degree have until June 30, 2024, to complete the final exam.
Job Description:
The successful candidate will:
- Investigate adaptation in the house sparrow using ecology, genomics, ancient DNA, and evolutionary biology
- Conduct fieldwork in Norway and abroad
- Develop their own research direction within the project framework
- Address questions related to parallel and non-parallel adaptation, the impact of temperature changes, and evolutionary trade-offs
- Join an active research group, participating in lab meetings, group discussions, and hands-on training
- Collaborate with international researchers
