- Devising and testing novel approaches to solving hard optimization problems.
- Investigating the effects of noise and decoherence on quantum computing, particularly in quantum annealing.
- Exploring how dynamical effects can be exploited to facilitate optimization problems.
- Analyzing the interplay between digital implementations (e.g., QAOA) and analogous continuous-time implementations.
- Using classical simulations to assess potential quantum hardware speedup.
Location
Primary Workplace: Pilestredet 35, 0166 Oslo, Norway (Pilestredet campus).
A change of workplace to the new Lillestrøm campus may be relevant at a later stage.
Eligibility/Qualification
Required Qualifications:
- A relevant Master’s degree (e.g., in physics, mathematics, or computer science) with an average grade B or better, and a minimum grade of B for the Master’s thesis.
