PhD Fellowship in Biological Chemistry – Exploring Non-equilibrium Assemblies of Biomolecules

Eligibility/Qualification: Candidates should hold a degree equivalent to a Danish master’s degree (180 ECTS/3 FTE BSc + 120 ECTS/2 FTE MSc) in a relevant field such as chemistry. Applicants with a background in organic synthesis, chemical modification of small biomolecules, or the construction/characterization of biomolecular assemblies are encouraged to apply. Proficiency in spoken and written English is essential, and experience in nucleic acid chemistry or HPLC-MS techniques is advantageous.
Description: The PhD project focuses on utilizing activation/deactivation reaction cycles to create non-equilibrium assemblies of lipids, peptides, and oligonucleotides. The candidate will construct chemically fueled non-equilibrium assemblies, analyze compositional changes with HPLC-MS, and collaborate with computational chemistry researchers to build kinetic models. The position includes both research and teaching responsibilities.

Responsibilities and Tasks in the PhD Programmes:
- Carry out an independent research project under supervision
- Complete PhD courses corresponding to approx. 30 ECTS / ½ FTE
- Participate in active research environments, including a stay at another research institution, preferably abroad
- Engage in teaching and knowledge dissemination activities
- Write scientific papers for high-impact journals
- Write and defend a PhD thesis based on the research project
