PhD Fellowship in Molecular Mechanisms: A fully funded PhD Fellowship is available at the Center for Chromosome Stability (CCS) within the Miller Group, headed by Assoc. Prof. Thomas Miller. The fellowship, starting from June 1, 2024, or as agreed, invites highly motivated candidates interested in eukaryotic DNA replication, DNA damage repair, cryogenic electron microscopy (cryo-EM), or single-molecule studies.
PhD Fellowship in ‘Molecular Mechanisms of Replication-Coupled DNA-Protein Crosslink Repair’ at the Center for Chromosome Stability (CCS), Department of Cellular and Molecular Medicine (ICMM)
Study Area: Molecular Mechanisms of Replication-Coupled DNA-Protein Crosslink Repair
Location: Center for Chromosome Stability (CCS), Department of Cellular and Molecular Medicine, University of Copenhagen
Eligibility/Qualification:
- Master’s degree in Biochemistry, Biology, Biomedicine, or a related field.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Evidence of publication-standard research, preferably in protein biochemistry or structural biology.
- Interest in DNA replication or repair, structural biology, or biochemistry.
- Proficiency in English, both written and oral.
Description: The CCS, funded by the Danish National Research Foundation, aims to understand how chromosomal instability causes human diseases. The Miller Group, generously supported by grants, focuses on molecular mechanisms maintaining eukaryotic genome stability during DNA replication. The PhD project explores overcoming obstacles on chromosomes, particularly covalent DNA-protein crosslinks (DPCs), and replication-coupled proteolysis (‘DPC repair’).
How to Apply: Interested candidates must submit their applications electronically by clicking “Apply now” on the official website. The application should include:
- Letter of motivation (max. one page)
- CV including education, experience, language skills, and relevant skills
- Certified/signed copy of Master of Science certificate or a recent transcript of records
- Publication list (if available)
Last Date for Apply: The application deadline is Sunday, March 31, 2024, 23:59 p.m. CET.
