Study Area:

PhD Fellowship in Volatile Organic Compound Exchange in Freshwater Ecosystems

The successful candidate will be part of VOLT, contributing to the unraveling of biological processes producing and consuming VOCs. The project specifically aims to assess VOC exchange in lakes and freshwater ecosystems. Utilizing advanced technologies such as proton transfer reaction-time of flight-mass spectrometry (PTR-TOF-MS) and gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS), the research will shed light on the intricate dynamics of VOCs in aquatic environments.

Eligibility:

We are seeking an enthusiastic candidate with an MSc degree in biology, ecology, microbiology, geosciences, chemistry, or related fields. Experience in limnology, gas exchange measurements, VOC analytical techniques, isotope labeling, aquatic microbial ecology, molecular biology, or metabolomics is an asset. Fluency in written and spoken English is a requirement. Research potential, demonstrated through scientific publications, will be a key criterion for selection.
