Description:
The PhD position aims to develop research techniques for improved assessment and monitoring of woody vegetation ecosystem properties at the single tree level using remote sensing technology and AI algorithms. The successful candidate will focus on disturbances and change dynamics by integrating data from PlanetScope and Sentinel sensors, leveraging extensive datasets for global-scale environmental monitoring.
This research will address significant unknowns in global change research, including the impact of climate change on tree physiology and growth patterns at the species level.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct an independent research project under supervision.
- Complete PhD courses (approx. 30 ECTS).
- Participate in a research exchange stay, preferably abroad.
- Engage in teaching and knowledge dissemination activities.
- Publish scientific papers and write a PhD thesis based on the project.
How to Apply:
Interested candidates must submit their application electronically and include the following documents:
- A cover letter (max 2 pages) detailing background, personal qualities, research interests, and an outline of research ideas.
- CV (max 2 pages).
- Academic diplomas and transcripts (BSc and MSc).
- Any other relevant information, such as a list of publications.
- A short abstract of the MSc thesis (max 300 words).
- 1-3 reference letters (if available).
Applications must be submitted by clicking the ‘APPLY NOW’ link on the job portal.
