PhD Grant: A fully-funded, 4-year pre-doctoral FPI contract is available for a PhD program within the R&D project ‘Legislative Transparency in the European Parliament.’ This scholarship is funded by the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation (PID2022-136330NB-100). The successful candidate will work under the supervision of the PI, Nuria Font, and join the EUGOV Research Group.

Study Area: The project focuses on the determinants of transparency activity in the European Parliament (EP) as a key factor in improving the quality of democracy. It explores the design of transparency regimes, why certain political actors are more transparent, and the broader perspective of transparency-related activity within the EP.
Scholarship Description: The research strategies will be based on quantitative methods and involve diverse data sources to better understand the logics and practices of transparency regimes at the EU level and their implications for democratic quality.
Eligibility:
- BA and/or Master’s Degree (or equivalent) in Political Science (or similar Social Sciences).
- Excellent academic record.
- Good skills in quantitative techniques, preferably with knowledge of Stata or R.
- Fluent in both written and spoken English.
- Eligible for enrollment or admission to the PhD program in Politics, Policies, and International Relations (UAB) at the time the contract is formalized.
