Eligibility/Qualification:
Applicants must hold a relevant Bachelor’s degree in biology, engineering, physics, computer science, or related fields, with a preference for a completed Master’s degree. Proficiency in programming and data analysis in at least one language is required. Description:
The PhD opportunity focuses on advancing techniques for acoustic detection and population monitoring of small delphinids. The successful candidate will collaborate with an interdisciplinary team and leading researchers globally to develop and validate methods for detecting individual bottlenose dolphin signature whistles, cataloguing signature whistles for new populations, and implementing statistical analysis for population density estimates. The project will utilize longitudinal datasets, tag recordings, and a network of long-term listening stations for acoustic monitoring in Danish and European waters.
