Eligibility/Qualification

  • Master’s degree in Mathematics or an equivalent university degree (double degree in Mathematics and Physics is a plus).
  • Research-oriented attitude.
  • Ability to work in an interdisciplinary team and collaborate with partners beyond mathematics.
  • Interested in developing teaching skills and coaching students.
  • Fluent in spoken and written English (C1 level).

Description

This PhD position involves researching the fundamental concepts of reversible and irreversible behaviors in physical phenomena. The project will utilize mathematical tools from partial differential equations, large-deviation theory, and complexity theory to gain insights into the nature of time’s direction. Candidates will be involved in interdisciplinary collaborations, science communication activities, and high-school science teaching programs.

Supervision will be provided by a collaboration of experts from TU/e and other universities.
