The successful candidate will join the Vainio group within the Disease Network Research unit at the Faculty of Biochemistry and Molecular Medicine. PhD Scholarship Opportunity in Precision Cancer Medicine Research

Research Area: Precision Cancer Medicine, Nanomedicine-based Cancer Therapy, Extracellular Vesicles (EVs) Research, Cancer Cell Biology

Location: Oulu, Finland

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • Master’s or equivalent degree in molecular and cell biology, embryology, developmental biology, biochemistry, biomedicine, medicine, bioinformatics, data analysis, or related fields
  • Excellent capacity to work with cell culture, organoids, and in vivo disease modeling with aims to translational medicine
  • Interest in applying cancer genetic and epigenetic/multi-OMICs data
  • Fluent in written and spoken English language
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Full dedication to the research project and ability to meet project deadlines

Job Description:
The doctoral researcher will participate in a team developing EV-based bioengineering technologies targeting drug-loaded EVs to eradicate tumor cells and provide noninvasive tumor eradication efficacy monitoring. The position involves utilizing kidney tissue engineering toolbox and validating therapeutic openings in preclinical models.
