Eligibility/Qualification
- Required Qualifications:
- Master’s degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Economics, FinTech, Financial Innovation, Mathematics, or a related field from the University of Cape Town.
- Strong background in game theory, mechanism design, microeconomics, or cryptographic protocols.
- Proficiency in mathematical modeling, data analysis, and programming (Python, R, etc.).
- Experience with blockchain technologies and smart contracts (preferred).
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with various blockchain platforms (e.g., Ethereum, Cardano, Polkadot).
- Knowledge of consensus mechanisms and on-chain governance.
Description
The successful candidate will engage in original research focused on designing, analyzing, and optimizing economic mechanisms in blockchain systems. Responsibilities include collaborating with industry partners to connect theoretical research with real-world applications, developing computational models, and publishing findings in academic venues. Mentorship of undergraduate students and presentation of research at conferences are also expected components of this role.
