Eligibility/Qualification
- A Master’s degree in geospatial, computer, or environmental sciences, or a related field.
- Strong programming skills, preferably in Python.
- Knowledge in geospatial modeling, spatial statistics, and machine/deep learning.
- Good communication skills, with an excellent command of English; knowledge of Dutch is a plus.
- Ability to work in an interdisciplinary and internationally oriented environment.
- Interest and background in climate change, ecology, or phenology are advantageous.
Job Description
As a PhD candidate, you will:
- Conduct research on vegetation seasonality (phenology) at various scales to evaluate vegetation responses to climate change.
- Integrate and analyze climate simulations, weather data, and remotely sensed products.
- Model the impact of extreme weather events and land use changes on vegetation.
- Develop and apply geo-artificial intelligence techniques, including machine learning.
- Collaborate with experts in climate modeling, forestry, soil science, and agronomy.
