PhD in Microbial Communities: The University of Cologne, one of Europe’s largest and oldest universities, is offering a PhD position in the field of microbial communities and their role in carbon cycling in permafrost soils in the Arctic. This research is critical for understanding the impacts of climate change on carbon dynamics and microbial processes in a warmer and wetter Arctic environment. The position is based at the Institute of Geology and Mineralogy within the Organic Geochemistry & Radiocarbon group, in collaboration with national and international research partners.
