PhD in Slot Mode Antenna Research: The University of Strathclyde is inviting applications for a fully funded PhD scholarship focused on investigating novel techniques to suppress undesired sidebands in the output of slot mode antennas. This research project will involve numerical simulations and experimental benchmarking in collaboration with the industry partner, Teledyne e2v. The successful candidate will play a key role in the development of next-generation technologies in applied electromagnetics.

Eligibility/Qualification

  • Applicants must hold a minimum of an upper Second Class UK Honours degree or international equivalent in a relevant science or engineering discipline.
  • Must be a UK National capable of obtaining Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) clearance.
  • Candidates from underrepresented groups (women, disabled, Black, Asian, and Minority Ethnic candidates) are particularly encouraged to apply.

Job Description

  • Conduct numerical simulations and experimental investigations into antenna designs.
  • Develop methodologies to minimize sidelobe emissions while maintaining high gain for the primary beam.
  • Collaborate with industry partners and utilize advanced simulation techniques to predict antenna performance.
  • Verify predictions through experiments in collaboration with the Teledyne e2v facilities and at the University of Strathclyde.
  • Gain transferable skills in numerical simulation and experimental techniques applicable to future careers in academia or industry.
