Eligibility / Qualification
Applicants should meet the following criteria:
- Strong interest in applied insect ecology and entomology
- Highly motivated, self-directed, and enthusiastic researcher
- Willingness to take ownership of independent research projects
- Ability to collaborate effectively with lab members and external partners
- Preferred experience includes:
- Insect rearing
- Laboratory and field data collection
- Molecular or analytical techniques
- Quantitative data analysis
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and effective written and oral communication abilities
Job Description
- Conduct independent and collaborative research in applied insect ecology
- Participate in laboratory, field, and analytical research activities
- Contribute to the lab’s flagship project on the population ecology of the fall armyworm (Spodoptera frugiperda), including:
- Strain-level variation in dispersal
- Host use
- Responses to pest management strategies
- Option to pursue independent projects involving other insect systems
- Maintain insect colonies and conduct ecological experiments
- Analyze quantitative data and apply molecular or analytical approaches
- Present findings at conferences and publish research results
