Eligibility / Qualification

Applicants should meet the following criteria:

  • Strong interest in applied insect ecology and entomology
  • Highly motivated, self-directed, and enthusiastic researcher
  • Willingness to take ownership of independent research projects
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with lab members and external partners
  • Preferred experience includes:
    • Insect rearing
    • Laboratory and field data collection
    • Molecular or analytical techniques
    • Quantitative data analysis
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and effective written and oral communication abilities

Job Description

  • Conduct independent and collaborative research in applied insect ecology
  • Participate in laboratory, field, and analytical research activities
  • Contribute to the lab’s flagship project on the population ecology of the fall armyworm (Spodoptera frugiperda), including:
    • Strain-level variation in dispersal
    • Host use
    • Responses to pest management strategies
  • Option to pursue independent projects involving other insect systems
  • Maintain insect colonies and conduct ecological experiments
  • Analyze quantitative data and apply molecular or analytical approaches
  • Present findings at conferences and publish research results
