PhD Opportunity and Postdoc Opportunity: We have exciting opportunities for a PhD student and a postdoctoral researcher to work on an NSF-funded project exploring the impact of changing winter conditions on phytoplankton phenology and ecosystem function. These positions are part of a collaborative research effort involving multiple institutions, including the University of Missouri, Cornell, SUNY New Paltz, and the University of Colorado-Boulder. We are looking for individuals passionate about understanding how climate change affects phytoplankton community ecology and functional diversity. Previous research experience is preferred for the PhD position, while the postdoc role requires expertise in phytoplankton ecology, data science, and collaborative work.

Fall 2024 PhD Opportunity and Postdoc Opportunity in Phytoplankton Research
PhD Student: The selected PhD student will contribute to research examining the influence of changing winter conditions on year-round phytoplankton phenology and ecosystem function. This involves collaboration with a network of researchers across the U.S. The ideal candidate will engage in experimental work and bring a passion for understanding the impacts of climate change on phytoplankton ecology.
Postdoctoral Researcher: The postdoctoral researcher will play a pivotal role in leading and conducting experimental manipulations of ice cover in aquatic mesocosms at the Rubenstein Ecosystem Science Laboratory. Collaborative work with graduate and undergraduate students is expected, and the candidate will work closely with interdisciplinary teams to address research questions across various scales. There is also a possibility to contribute to teaching courses in Limnology or Phytoplankton Ecology.
Salary: The postdoctoral position offers a salary commensurate with experience, starting at the base NIH postdoc salary of $56,484 annually. It is a two-year (24-month) position with a flexible start date between January 15 and March 1, 2024.
