PhD Opportunity: Genomics Grant:
We are offering a PhD position focused on investigating the genomic and epigenomic underpinnings of migratory behavior in butterflies. The project aims to uncover key genetic traits and regulatory mechanisms that influence butterfly migration in response to environmental cues.
PhD Opportunity: Butterfly Migration Genomics Grant
Designation:
PhD Candidate/Research Fellow
Research Area:
Genomic and epigenomic signatures of migration in butterflies
Location:
Institut Botànic de Barcelona (IBB, CSIC-CMCNB), Spain
Eligibility/Qualification:
We are seeking a highly motivated individual with a keen interest in genomics, entomology, bioinformatics, phylogeography, evolution, and behavior. The candidate should have a Master’s degree related to Biological Sciences, Bioinformatics, Genetics, or a related field. Excellent communication skills in English and experience in genomic data analysis, population genomics, evolutionary theory, and use of computing clusters are required.
Job Description:
The selected candidate will investigate the adaptation to migratory divides, seasonal shifts in movement direction, the evolution of sensory gene families, and epigenetic responses to rapid environmental stressors in butterflies. The research will involve fieldwork, laboratory behavioral studies, and analyses of genomic, transcriptomic, and epigenomic data. The PhD plan will be tailored to the candidate’s interests within this framework, and they will receive training in evolutionary genomics, animal behavior, and migration ecology.
How to Apply:
Interested candidates are requested to submit a letter of motivation, Curriculum Vitae (CV), and optional contact information for potential references to Gerard Talavera at gerard.talavera@csic.es.
Last Date for Apply:
