PhD Position: AI-powered identification of anomalies and manipulation in electricity markets

Research Area: AI-powered identification of anomalies and manipulation in electricity markets
Location: Wageningen
Eligibility/Qualification:
- A successfully completed MSc degree in a discipline relevant to the PhD project (e.g., computer science, electrical engineering, applied statistics, data science, or artificial intelligence)
- Hands-on experience with AI algorithms and techniques (e.g., supervised/unsupervised learning) and big data analytics
- Strong scientific programming skills in Python (or R) and C++
- Knowledge about European electricity markets and energy systems
- Familiarity with algorithmic trading is a plus
- Excellent communication skills in English (C1 level)
Job Description:
- Understanding how market manipulations occur in electricity markets and their impact
- Exploring data-driven solutions for identifying electricity market manipulations
- Using big data analytics to analyze energy trading behavior and price patterns
- Developing and implementing AI models for identifying anomalies and market manipulations
- Evaluating the effectiveness of these models in the Dutch electricity market context
