Eligibility/Qualification:
- MSc in Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology, Environmental Chemistry, or related disciplines
- Background in marine microbiology and/or marine chemistry
- Proficiency in data analysis, experimental design, and/or public relations
- Scientific curiosity, independence, and interest in knowledge transfer
- Excellent communication skills in English
- Willingness to travel
Job Description:
The selected candidate will:
- Investigate the rate of biodegradation in different aquatic environments
- Quantify and identify pathogenic microorganisms and heavy metals adsorbed or desorbed from the material
- Assess the potential transfer of these pollutants to surrounding food webs
- Publish and disseminate project results to the scientific community
- Initiate and coordinate a citizen science project to investigate the degradation of the macroalgae material with a local school
