Eligibility/Qualification
- Completed Master’s degree or Diploma in Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, or related engineering fields.
- Experience in experimental studies of proteins/enzymes.
- Familiarity with biochemical/reaction engineering (both experimental and modeling).
- Excellent proficiency in English (written and oral).
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to work independently.
- Ability to communicate effectively in interdisciplinary teams.
- Must adhere to the Mobility Rule: Not have resided or carried out main activities in Austria for more than 12 months in the last 3 years.
Description
As a PhD candidate in this project, you will work on the process intensification of a biocatalytic oxyfunctionalisation process utilizing cytochrome P450 (CYP) as a catalyst. Your role will involve evaluating different reaction setups and reactor concepts to enhance product concentrations and mitigate reaction bottlenecks, supported by machine learning tools.
You will also engage in international research stays in Denmark, Italy, and an industrial stay in Sweden over the course of your PhD, which is expected to last approximately three years under the supervision of Prof. Bernd Nidetzky at TU Graz.
