PhD Position – Bone Implants: The TU Delft’s Biomaterials & Tissue Biomechanics section is offering a PhD position as part of the EU Interreg Vlaanderen-Nederland project (Prosperos-II). The focus is on 3D printed personalized orthopedic implants and orthoses. The research involves the development of osteoimmunomodulatory constructs for enhancing bone regeneration, considering patient pathophysiological conditions. The successful candidate will work on strategies to incorporate osteoimmunomodulatory function into biomaterials and assess their effects on tissue regeneration.

Eligibility/QualificationMSc degree in Biomedical Engineering, Biomaterials Science and Engineering, Medicine (Immunology), or related fields. Strong background in cell and molecular biology of immune cells, cell culture techniques, and relevant assays. Motivation for developing new methodologies for investigating interface biology. Ability to work in a multidisciplinary lab. Excellent communication skills in English (written and spoken). English proficiency requirements apply.
Job DescriptionThe PhD researcher will develop osteoimmunomodulatory constructs, incorporate them into biomaterials, and assess their effects on tissue regeneration. The work includes the use of mono- and co-culture models, dedicated assays, and multi-scale imaging.
