PhD Position – Flow Properties: We are seeking a highly motivated PhD student to join a research project focusing on the flow properties of soft spheres using rheo-SANS (Small-Angle Neutron Scattering). The project aims to investigate the interplay between particle softness, ordering, phase separation, and shear-banding in soft materials, with applications in areas such as vaccine and drug delivery, smart coatings, 3D printing, and tissue engineering. The project will span 3.5 years, with 1.5 years at RWTH Aachen, Germany, and 2 years at the ILL (Institut Laue-Langevin) in Grenoble, France.
PhD Position – Flow Properties of Soft Spheres Probed by Rheo-SANS
Designation | PhD Student |
---|---|
Research Area | Flow properties of soft spheres, Rheo-SANS, Small-Angle Neutron Scattering |
Location | RWTH Aachen, Germany, and ILL, Grenoble, France |
Eligibility/Qualification | Master’s degree in a relevant field, strong interest in soft matter physics, rheology, and scattering techniques |
Job Description | Conduct research on the flow properties of pNIPAM-based microgels, perform rheological experiments, and use small-angle neutron and x-ray scattering measurements. Investigate individual particle response under flow and analyze the resulting macroscopic properties. |
