Eligibility/Qualification
- Master’s degree in Membrane Science, Materials Science, Biomedical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Physical Chemistry, Physics, or closely related disciplines, preferably with distinction.
- Strong affinity toward physical chemistry, materials science, and water treatment.
- Experience with polyelectrolytes, responsive polymers, and phase separation processes is preferred.
- Excellent analytical and communication skills in English.
Description
The PhD project will involve the production and characterization of functional membranes that possess additional properties beyond separation, such as absorptive or catalytic functionalities. This research is part of a larger NWO-VICI project, emphasizing sustainable membrane production and applications, including environmental remediation and biomedical applications like kidney dialysis.
The successful candidate will collaborate with a team of researchers, including at least two other PhD candidates and a postdoctoral researcher. The project will promote a highly collaborative academic environment and offer opportunities for teaching within the Twente Graduate School.
