Research Area

The doctoral research will focus on the development and evaluation of active neutron interrogation methods, analyzing induced signatures from various nuclear materials, particularly high-enriched uranium.

Eligibility/Qualification

  • A Master’s degree (second-cycle) in Physics, Engineering, or a related field, or
  • At least 240 credits in higher education with a minimum of 60 credits at the Master’s level, including a 15-credit independent project.
  • Proficiency in English (oral and written) is essential.

Additional Qualifications (considered advantageous)

  • Experience in programming
  • Experience in spectrometry and radiation detection
  • Experience with modeling codes for radiation physics or neutron transport

Job Description

The PhD candidate will:

  • Conduct research in nuclear disarmament verification.
  • Develop and evaluate measurement techniques using gamma-ray and neutron detectors.
  • Collaborate with international partners and contribute to various related projects.
  • Conduct experimental work at the neutron generator laboratory NESSA.
