Scholarship Description: This PhD opportunity is ideal for early-career researchers interested in contributing to the “BlackSeaGrain” project. The research will be based on Melitz’s “New” New Trade Theory, emphasizing firm differences in explaining trade relations and their determinants. The availability of unique data on Russia’s wheat exports provides an excellent opportunity to investigate Russia’s international wheat trade relations.
Eligibility: We are seeking candidates who meet the following criteria:
- Hold an MSc degree or equivalent in agricultural economics, economics, or a related field.
- Possess a strong interest in international agricultural trade theory and food security.
- Demonstrate a passion for econometrics and data-rich analysis.
- Have expertise in econometrics and programming skills in R or a willingness to develop these skills.
- Exhibit strong written and oral communication skills in English, with knowledge of the Russian language considered a plus.
- Be open to collaborating within an international project team.
