PhD Position in AI: The High-tech Business & Entrepreneurship Department (HBE) at the Faculty of Behavioural, Management, and Social Sciences (BMS) invites applications for a fully funded PhD Position in Information Systems for AI in Industrial SMEs. This position, located in the Industrial Engineering and Business Information Systems (IEBIS) section, focuses on the AI-enabled transformation of small-and-medium enterprises.

Study Area: The PhD candidate will explore the AI-enabled transformation of small-and-medium enterprises, particularly in the context of digitalization and artificial intelligence (AI) with autonomous machines, sensor data, and decision support systems.

Scholarship Description:

PHD POSITION IN INFORMATION SYSTEMS FOR AI IN INDUSTRIAL SMES

The research will delve into theoretical advancements and practical applications, addressing challenges in the effective use of AI technologies in industry practice. The project aims to contribute to precision farming, manufacturing, and sustainable intensification, impacting climate change and economic performance.

Eligibility: The ideal candidate holds a master’s degree or equivalent in information systems, organizational psychology, organizational behavior, business administration, computer science, or engineering with a human-centered focus. The candidate should have experience in empirical and/or design research methods in information systems. Strong communication skills, a team spirit, and the ability to work in an interdisciplinary and internationally oriented environment are crucial.

  2. Curriculum Vitae, including a list of all courses attended and grades obtained, and, if applicable, a list of publications and references
  3. IELTS-test, Internet TOEFL test (TOEFL-iBT), or a Cambridge CAE-C (CPE) for non-Dutch applicants without English education
