Study Area: The research focuses on creating innovative technical solutions by combining knowledge graphs and machine learning. The project, part of the Horizon Europe SoilWise initiative, aims to provide an integrated and actionable access point to scattered and heterogeneous soil data and knowledge in Europe, making them FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable).

Scholarship Description:

Fully Funded PhD Position in Artificial Intelligence for Open and Accessible Knowledge at Wageningen University & Research

As a PhD candidate, you will contribute to the SoilWise project by employing artificial intelligence approaches for data of the soil domain and related repositories. Key responsibilities include using data science and AI techniques for semantic annotation, interoperability, knowledge graph construction, and more. You will be actively involved in the SoilWise consortium, publish research findings, and have the opportunity to be engaged in teaching and supervising junior researchers.

Eligibility: To be eligible, you should have:

  • A completed Master’s degree in computer science, data science, or a related field
  • Affinity with knowledge and data management, data analysis, and environment and life sciences
  • Preferably, knowledge of Semantic Web technologies
  • Good social and communication skills in English (C1 level)
