Eligibility/Qualification
- University degree in a relevant field (e.g., Physics, Astrophysics, Computer Science).
- Excellent communication skills in English.
- Prior knowledge of astrophysics and/or cosmology (ideally demonstrated through an undergraduate thesis).
- Experience in programming, especially in Python.
- Interest or experience in modern machine learning and deep learning approaches.
Description
The PhD position involves academic services for the project “Cluster of Excellence Quantum Universe,” focusing on understanding mass and gravity through research that combines quantum physics and cosmology. The successful candidate will develop AI models to enhance the understanding of the large-scale structure of the Universe, especially in light of new galaxy surveys. The candidate will work under the supervision of Prof. Luisa Lucie-Smith at the Hamburg Observatory.
