Eligibility/Qualification:

  • M.Sc. degree in Behavioral Biology or a related field (Cognitive or Comparative Biology).
  • Experience in observational or experimental studies with animals.
  • Advanced statistical and analytical abilities (experience using R is a plus).
  • Excellent command of English; French language skills desirable.
  • Excellent critical thinking and communication skills.
  • Team-player with the ability to work under harsh conditions.
  • Good intercultural communication skills.
  • Clean Driver’s License.

Job Description:

PhD Position in Behavioral Biology at DPZ, Göttingen

  • Conduct studies on the information-seeking behavior of wild Guinea baboons near the DPZ field site Simenti in Senegal.
  • Combine behavioral observations and field experimentation.
  • Work collaboratively in an interdisciplinary and team-oriented research environment.
  • Enroll in a training program with compulsory and elective courses, regular retreats, and summer schools.
  • Receive ample funding for conferences and external laboratory visits.
