Eligibility/Qualification

  • Master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering or a related area, or equivalent knowledge (minimum 240 credits, with at least 60 in advanced Biomedical Engineering courses).
  • Completion of at least 60 higher education credits at an advanced level in a relevant field.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in English.
  • Documented experience in mathematical modeling of biological systems or deep learning/machine learning is essential. Experience in both areas is preferred.
  • Programming skills in MATLAB, Python, or similar languages.
  • Interests in clinical work and the ability to work independently and in groups are required.

Job Description

As a PhD student, your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting independent research in biological systems modeling and deep learning.
  • Developing mechanistic models to describe the dynamics of microcirculation.
  • Analyzing large datasets using statistical methods and deep learning to explore the relationship between blood vessel function and cardiovascular disease.
  • Contributing to the development of new markers for cardiovascular diseases.
  • Engaging in teaching or other departmental duties, up to a maximum of 20% of full-time work.
