Study Area: The study area focuses on the development of novel bifunctional aluminium-zirconium metallocene catalysts, their characterization, and their application in olefin polymerization.

Scholarship Description: The Leibniz Institute for Catalysis (LIKAT Rostock), with approximately 300 employees and guests, is one of Europe’s leading research institutions in the field of catalysis. The institute specializes in both homogeneous and heterogeneous catalysts and catalytic processes and technologies. The PhD position is within the research group of Catalysis of Early Transition Metals in the department of Modern Concepts in Molecular Catalysis. The candidate will receive mentoring and support through a comprehensive training phase and regular exchanges with supervisors.

Eligibility:

  • Excellent knowledge of either German or English.
  • Experience in organometallic chemistry.
  • Proficiency in standard characterization techniques (NMR, IR, GC, MS).
  • Additional knowledge of organic chemistry and catalyst synthesis is desirable.
  • High degree of self-motivation and ability to work in international interdisciplinary teams.
  • Applications from Applied Universities (Fachhochschulen) are welcome.
